Bar25: Where It All Began

In contrast to mainstream discos and clubs, Bar25 stood as a beacon of alternative club culture, gaining popularity as a hub of inspiration. From a tiny trailer converted into a mobile bar, Bar25 evolved into a cultural phenomenon in Berlin during the early 2000s. Known affectionately as "the bar," it became a hotspot for night owls, a source of inspiration for a generation of techno enthusiasts.

Legendary after-hour parties, lasting up to 72 hours, established Bar25 as a mythic venue. Renowned DJs like Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos and emerging artists such as Oliver Koletzki, Jan Blomquist, and Acid Pauli found their roots in Bar25. The venue expanded over the years, incorporating a restaurant, hostel, cinema, theatre, spa, pool, and various event spaces, covering 12,000 sqm by its closure in 2011.

From this vibrant space emerged independent projects like Kater Holzig, Kater Mukke, the collective project Holzmarkt, and the label Bar 25 Music, founded in 2006 by the Bar25 team. Serving as a platform for the club's creative output, the label transcends Berlin's borders, standing as a symbol of quality electronic music after 19 years of operation.

To delve deeper into Bar25's history, consider watching the cinema movie "Bar25—Tage außerhalb der Zeit / Days out of Time," which narrates the club's story.
